Chatham 2 Falmouth 0 |
by Mike Couzens
ORLEANS – The Commodores (4-9-1) faced the
Chatham Anglers at Veteran’s Field Tuesday night
but it was not the opposing team who Falmouth
had to worry about, It was the weather. In a
game shortened to just five innings, Falmouth
committed three errors and fell 2-0.
The famous Chatham fog made an appearance and
rolled out of left field for most of the game,
but became too heavy to play in during the top
of the sixth inning. Falmouth’s B.A. Vollmuth
(Southern Mississippi) was at the plate and
drove a high pop fly down the right field line
which Chatham rightfielder Whit Merrifield
(South Carolina) lost in the night sky. The
umpires called for a delay and the game was
eventually called because of the fog.

A New Press Box
|
|
The Commodores are raising funds to build a
new press box and renovate the dugouts at Arnie
Allen Diamond. One of the efforts to
finance the project involves working with the
Falmouth Artists Guild.
Artists from the Guild have created pieces featuring
Commodore and baseball themes that will be sold
and auctioned on a new
website here.
All profits from the site will benefit the building
fund. Please visit the website and see
how you and your family can be an important
part of the Commodores' future.
